Please note that ALL male dogs over the age of SIX months must be neutered to attend daycare. Females in/going into heat will not be permitted to attend until they are no longer in heat. Current rabies, bordetella, and DHPP/DA2PP vaccinations are required for Meet & Greet and regular daycare.
All dogs must have a current rabies vaccination certificate and be up to date on both bordetella and DHPP/DA2PP. To meet NC licensing requirements, we keep a copy of all vaccination records on file, and failure to keep vaccinations up to date will result in your dog being refused attendance at daycare until they are brought up to date and proof provided (refunds will not be issued when vaccinations are expired or if proof is not provided).
In addition, all dogs must be on regular flea and tick prevention.
Please note that only a limited number of Meet & Greet sessions are conducted each month.
For your peace of mind, there are three reasons for the FREE half hour Meet & Greet session. Firstly, to assess your dog as an individual and their general personality, ability to listen, and obey basic commands. Good training isn’t a necessity to pass the assessment because it is personality and social skills which are most important, but it is definitely helpful.
The second reason is to allow your dog to interact under close supervision with one or several other dogs in an ‘open’ environment. This enables you and us to see how they cope with new dogs in a new environment, and to ensure that BEST DAY EVER really is the right place for them. As long as all goes well and they, you, and we are happy and comfortable with how things went, they’re in!
The third reason is to enable you to get to know us and our facility, ask questions, and become comfortable with who we are and how we do things, so that you can rest assured that your dog really will have their BEST DAY EVER with us!
If separation into groups is required, dogs are placed into one of two groups, predominantly according to size and temperament, and are closely monitored at all times. We are always ready to intervene when needed, and if necessary, time out can be given, or dogs separated for the remainder of the session if safety is a concern. At all times, the safety of our staff and your dogs is our primary concern.
The dogs play and run and have fun! The day is relatively unstructured but always supervised and closely monitored by us. Our aim is for your dog to have their BEST DAY EVER, so they play when they want, snooze when they want, take a break when they want, and are always under our watchful eye. They will always have access to play outdoors in a securely fenced area, with permanent access to plenty of water and the ability to come back indoors whenever they want. There is always an opportunity for quiet time and a comfy bed for those dogs who need to take a break or who are just all played out!
ALL sizes and breeds of dog are welcome at BEST DAY EVER because we love dogs! Our only personality requirement is that they must be dog and people social as this is a VERY social environment and keeping dogs permanently separated is not a possibility. Dogs must be a minimum of FIVE months old to attend daycare, and ALL MALES over the age of SIX months, without exception, must be neutered.
We want all our dogs to have a great time, and we want you to bring them back again and again because they had such fun, so a sociable personality is the key to a good experience with us. They don't need to be high energy, just sociable enough to be comfortable around other dogs. Food or toy aggression will not be tolerated, and repeated exhibition of these traits may result in permanent exclusion from daycare.
All staff are fully certified by the American Red Cross in Pet First Aid, including CPR.
Accidents happen - that’s life! We do our utmost to avoid them, but they’re accidents, so sometimes they just, you know, happen. Should something untoward happen, we will immediately ensure that all dogs and people are safe, because people and animals are always our primary concern. We will then contact you and detail what happened and what has been done, and, if necessary, contact your vet. Details of the incident will be kept on file for our records. Should a particular dog repeatedly pose a problem, or cause a significant disturbance, for the safety of all concerned we will ask that the dog is removed from daycare on a permanent basis.
Payment for daycare is due at the time of booking or when dropping off. Payment for grooming is due when you pick up from your appointment. We accept cash, check, debit cards, Google Pay, Apple Pay, and all major credit cards in person for ALL SERVICES. All card payments are made using Square, and contactless/over the phone payment is available.
Yes we do! We offer discounts for multiple dogs from the same household attending the same daycare session, and for bulk bookings for non-specific dates paid up-front. Please see the ‘Pricing’ page for more information, or call, email, or message us to find out more.
Some grooming services are a fixed cost, and some are variable dependent upon the size and temperament of the dog, and how long the appointment takes. Please see the 'Grooming' page for more details.
BEST DAY EVER is easily accessible from a major highway which is cleared by DoT in snow and ice, and so instances of short notice closure should be minimal. In the event that we simply cannot open, we will give everyone scheduled for that day as much notice as possible to allow you to make alternative arrangements.
In the event that a daycare session is cancelled by BEST DAY EVER, full refunds or transfers to alternative dates will be made available with no penalties. Our job is to be a reliable resource for you and your dog, so we will do everything we can to ensure that we provide you with the service you expect, when you expect it.
Absolutely you can, subject to availability at the time of booking. Just let us know what services you would like and when you would like your appointment (would you like your dog done at the end of the day so they go home clean and fresh, or can they go back into daycare once done?) and we'll get everything set up.
Not at all. You can schedule a grooming appointment as a separate service, or in combination with daycare. See the 'Grooming' page for more information and pricing.
Yes, you are very welcome to. We have a large reception area with plenty of seating and a bathroom. If you choose not to wait on site, please be prompt when picking up (your groomer will let you know what time to pick up) as we do not have facility to keep grooming dogs for extended periods of time.
Grooming is usually a tipped profession, and so although you are very welcome to tip, gratuities are not expected or obligatory. Tips can be paid in cash or added to your check or credit/debit card total if you prefer.
Nothing and no-one is perfect, mistakes happen. If we provide you with a grooming service and you are less than satisfied with the result, please let us know AS SOON AS POSSIBLE and we will do our very best to rectify the problem. Any concerns must be raised within 7 days of the service being provided in order for us to be able to consider what remedy may be appropriate, and photographic evidence and written detail of the issue must be provided.
Absolutely! Please provide us with an adequate supply of your dog’s preferred treat, and we’ll ensure that is what they are given. If your dog can enjoy ‘regular’ treats, then they will receive dry treats in an appropriate quantity for their size to assist with fresh breath, healthy teeth and gums, and good weight management.
We have approximately 1200 square feet of indoor play space across 2 levels, and a gravelled solid vinyl fenced outdoor play area of approximately 1500 square feet.
All surfaces with which the dogs come into contact are hard and waterproof, and therefore do not absorb moisture and smells. Floors (including the outside gravel play area), water bowls, and toys are regularly sanitized. Messes are cleaned up as quickly as possible after they are made.
You can drop off and pick up at ANY TIME during your chosen daycare session. Full day daycare runs from 7.30 am to 6pm. Morning half days are 7.30am-12.30pm. Afternoon half days are 1pm-6pm. Drop off and pick up must be during those hours, and if you would like to text us when you are a few minutes away from pick up we will have your dog ready for you. Please note that we close at 6pm and therefore afternoon pick up must be BEFORE 6pm.
We are extremely busy, most often fully booked. Additionally, the number of dogs we can have here per member of staff is strictly regulated by the State. Most days we are full with a combination of full day and half day dogs - late pick up of a morning half day dog could mean an overlap with an incoming afternoon dog, which would take us over our mandated capacity. This is why we have a half hour gap between the end of morning sessions and the start of afternoon sessions, and why we require strict adherence to the designated time slots. Our half day hours are strictly 7.30am to 12.30pm latest, and 1pm earliest to 6pm.
Yes, please do! On cold mornings we positively encourage it and are happy to take them off as they warm up so they stay nice and comfortable. We do recommend clothing without adornments and also items which are less expensive or don't have sentimental value, as there is always a chance that they could be accidentally damaged during play. Clothing items, leashes, collars, and harnesses are sent to the daycare entirely at the owner's risk.
Very easily and we LOVE them! We have several dogs who attend daycare regularly who are deaf, and we even have a wonderful tripod who comes to play! Dogs in wheelchairs can be accommodated, too. Play can be rambunctious, but there's always a quiet spot for a dog to go and relax and enjoy some quiet time if things get a little too much for them.
